Talkback: "Cashing in on the Ad Biz" Jay Rose doesn't quite go far enough in his instructions for preparing voice talent. What the talent had recently for food and drink is very important, as the wrong thing can really screw up a session. The talent needs to be told (and if they're pros, they'll know this) not to eat any dairy products the day of a session, not to drink carbonated beverages before a session, and take it easy on salty foods. The studio should have on hand a good supply of apple juice (by far the best for cutting through saliva), and if the talent must have coffee (usually not a great idea), then a supply of non-dairy creamer. If the studio is exceptionally dry, mild cough drops or chewing gum can help--but get it out of the talent's mouth before tape rolls! --goldthroat@goodvoice.com Wow! goldthroat@goodvoice sounds like a real cool guy.I suppose he/she would like respect too!(That was sarcasm "Gold" - or is that Mr Throat?)In the real world goldthroat would starve and/or die of thirst.Jay Rose sounds like he knows exactly what he's doing. Good article. --Greg C. |
